My Story: Major Steve Kuervers

I was one of the last Canadian soldiers to leave Afghanistan. Soon after we left the ground, I got a splitting headache. Turns out I had a tumor behind my right eye. As it began to grow, it had to go. Open brain surgery likely would have ended my career and kept me in bed for 2-4 months. I had Gamma Knife instead, thanks to many donors and Dr. Aronyk. They say it’s the most advanced form of brain surgery and I believe them. I arrived in the morning for my procedure and was home in time to take the dog for a walk that night. I cannot thank that man enough for what he did for me and my family.
